“Lottery” follows the 2017 release of Bird’s debut EP, Something American — an aptly titled release, as Bird’s material often finds its way into the Americana vein of music popularized across the pond, with Loretta Lynn one of her many obvious touchstones. Bird says “Lottery” was produced with the same group (Simone Felice and David Baron) that helmed Something American and that she’s soon looking to “release an album, which I’ve got a concept for,” in the near future.
The song, which received early airplay on multiple Triple A radio stations in the United States upon its Jan. 11 release, led by Sirius XM Radio’s The Spectrum station. It’s not Bird’s first foray onto American radio; Something American‘s “Cathedral” also received some airplay across the U.S. Appreciative of the support so far, Bird chalks her early success up in part to her material being “honest, and the common thread through it is very much being who I am: kind of a young, ballsy teenager who wants to do something a little bit differently.”
Wolf Tone signing Elle Watson recently shared her second track ‘Suspended’, and its haunting new video is playing on DIY as today’s Neu Pick.
‘Suspended’ followed the newcomer’s Clams Casino-produced recent single ‘Glued’ and debut EP ‘Phantom’, and its new video perfectly matches the magnetic darkness of the single.
“The song portrays the desperation of finding strength in the unknown” she says of the song in a press release.
“It’s how sometimes choosing not to know something is the best option for protecting yourself. However, the truth comes out and reality sinks in, which causes the foundation to collapse. The strength you find in the unknown is only temporary, the next step is to take a stand and move on.”
